Music and Dance

Students enjoy weekly music classes throughout the year.  The music curriculum focuses on singing songs about holidays, Shabbat, and Israel. While learning vocabulary in English, Hebrew and a variety of other languages, students learn about the elements of music.  Israeli Dance instruction takes place weekly during the late Fall and early Winter. The focus of the dance curriculum is on learning dances related to the theme of the year’s Dance Festival as well as to begin building a repertoire of popular folk dances. Through dance, the children expand their knowledge of the culture and history of the Jews and Israel

The music program includes units on:

  • Fundamentals of Music
  • Rudiments and Rhythm
  • Melody and Harmony
  • Exploration of orchestral instruments
  • Broadway musicals
  • Formal Design of Jazz

Students develop skills to:

  • Read, Compose and Perform melodies and rhythms
  • Sing a variety of American and Israeli songs
  • Play the Recorder
  • Identify the instruments of the orchestra
