Lower School
The early years at Bet Shraga provide the students with the wide variety of experiences that lay the foundation for both a lifetime love of learning and a lifetime commitment to Jewish tradition. Our faculty works together to address the needs of the whole child. Students are given the greatest opportunity to explore their world as they grow intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.
Beth Shraga’s primary education begins in kindergarten, offering the children a wide variety of developmentally appropriate opportunities for learning. Dramatic and imaginative play, guided role playing incorporating Jewish and General themes, richly varied language experiences in both English and Hebrew, exploration of manipulative and scientific objects and utilization of a myriad of artistic materials to represent the new concepts that have been acquired are all part of the child’s early education.
In first and second grades, the children transition into a more structured setting, affording the children the opportunity to hone their academic skills in both Hebrew and English, while still maintaining the opportunities for exploratory and small group learning.
Our enriching curriculum is enhanced by many talented specialists who teach weekly classes in art, music, Israeli dance, library and computer skills and physical education. Children’s individual needs may be further met by skilled support staff.
