Teaching & Learning
Bet Shraga Hebrew Academy is an exceptional learning environment for Achieving Academic Excellence, Developing Health Social Relationship and Modeling Jewish Values. We provide General and Judaic Studies in one school day without sacrificing quality.
The classrooms, hallways and playground of Bet Shraga buzz with two languages. Hebrew is integrated organically throughout the curriculum and throughout the day at levels appropriate to each individual child. Instruction incorporates the two languages and refines skills, thus reinforcing cognitive development and abstract thinking. The teaching of reading, spelling and grammar in both Hebrew and English flows from using both languages as important vehicles of communication. Children find Bet Shraga a perfect place to enhance their mastery of both English and Hebrew.
- We stress academic excellence in both General and Judaic studies. The Judaic Studies program reinforces and enriches the General Studies program through the development of enhanced language skills and the ability to think critically.
- Our students’ daily schedule is planned efficiently for students and teachers alike, in order to maximize learning opportunities.
- Small classes afford teachers the opportunity to meet the learning needs and styles of each student.
- Our collegial General Studies and Judaic Studies faculty frequently plan complementary lessons that integrate the two curricula so that learning is mutually reinforced.
- Jewish Day School eliminates the need to go to Sunday School or afternoon Hebrew School, allowing more time for homework and extracurricular activities. The elimination of after-school Hebrew School creates less stressed parents, less tired students and more quality time for families to spend together.
- Bet Shraga parents share a commitment to education that supports the work of our professional educators, creating an environment at home and in school that best cultivates a child’s lifelong commitment to learning.
The day is divided equally between General and Judaic Studies. At every grade level, Bet Shraga offers an excellent comprehensive education – one that deepens our children’s understanding of their world and builds bridges between the General and Judaic communities.
