Annual fundraising campaign that supports school wide enhancements and scholarship needs. Pledge Card

The Schaffer Challenge Grant Fund
This endowment fund, created by matching funds of the late Henry and Harry Schaffer, is the third largest endowment fund and is used to provide general support for the Hebrew Academy.

The Joseph Hershberg Middle School Fund
Established to honor the memory of Joseph Hershberg, a Hebrew educator in Albany. The funds donated by family members and others were designated to eliminate the accumulated deficit of the school.

Teacher Salary Improvement Funds - Linda & Dan Hershberg Fund and Joan & Jack Rosenblum Fund
The income from these funds is placed in the general operating account and is designated to be used annually to improve the level of compensation for teachers at Bet Shraga. In addition to major contributions from the Hershbergs and Rosenblums, a number of additional contributions have been made to this fund.

The Lillian Zuckman Trust
In memory of her mother and father, Louis Bernstein and Doris Woodnos Bernstein to support our Scholarship Fund.
The Martha & Emanuel Schiffer Endowment Fund
This endowment fund, created by Dr. & Mrs. Charles (Bette) Schiffer and their children, endows the Academy for special dramatic, theatrical and artistic programs. It was created in memory of Dr. Schiffer’s parents.

The Pozner Family Teacher Training Fund
The income from this fund is added to the general operating funds to support teacher training programs, materials and conferences. It was established by Louis-Jack and Rona Pozner, other family members and their children in honor of family simchas.

The Morton Berger Memorial Endowment Fund
Established in memory of Dr. Morton Berger who, with his wife Hope, was among the earliest supporters of Bet Shraga. A lecture series, which is open to the community, is funded by this endowment.

The Helen Moss Memorial Endowment Fund
Established in memory of Helen Moss who for many years was a beloved teacher at the Hebrew Academy. A lecture series for teachers is supported by this endowment.

Hope S. Berger Jewish Music Fund
This fund was established in 1999 by friends of Hope S. Berger in honor of her birthday and her lifelong devotion to Bet Shraga. These funds are designated for the purchase of music, instruments and other needs for the teaching of Jewish music and general music theory in the Hebrew Academy.

Andrea Beth Fernbach Music Library Fund
Established in 1999 to honor the memory of Andrea Beth Fernbach, Hebrew Academy Class of 1990. Andrea was a classically trained singer with a wide-ranging interest in music. Funds are designated to purchase music and books to enhance Bet Shraga’s Music Program.

Marilyn Cohen Arts-In-Education Fund
Established in 2000 to honor Marilyn Cohen on her retirement from Hebrew Academy after 28 years as a Kindergarten teacher. In recognition of her commitment to arts-in-education, funds are designated to bring arts programs to Bet Shraga to enhance the curriculum.

Milton Judkowitz Fund
This fund was established in 2000 for the purpose of providing remedial Hebrew language education for students entering Hebrew Academy in the upper grades.

BBL Endowment Fund
This fund was established in 2002 by Donald LedDuke, president of BBL Construction Services LLC. The income from this fund will support scholarships to needy students.

The Stanley Eisenberg Technology Fund
This fund was established in 2002 in memory of Stanley Eisenberg by his children to provide funding for our growing technology program.

Eve N. Kneznek Estate Fund
A bequest from the estate of Eve N. Kneznek was added to our Endowment Fund in 2002. The income from this bequest will be used to support our expanding technology program or such other purpose as the board may determine.

Ruth D. Laven Endowment Fund
This fund was established in 2002 by Ruth D. Laven. The income from this fund will support Scholarships to needy students.

Teaching Tolerance Fund
This Fund was established in 2004 through the generous support of several individuals and businesses committed to Holocaust education and Tolerance programming.

Charlotte Isser FUN FUNd
Established in 2005 to honor Charlotte Isser on her retirement from Hebrew Academy as an educator. In recognition of her committment to make learning fun for students, a fund has been set up for new playground facilities.
