Fifth Grade Melava Malka Party
November 15, 2008

More pictures of the Melava Malka

On Saturday night after Shabbat, I’m usually watching T.V., or hanging out with a friend, but last Saturday night was really a lot different.

When I got to school at exactly seven o’clock, I walked into the gym which had a lot of my classmates dribbling basketballs. I picked one up and started saying hi to everyone.

At 7:20, we all went into the library and sat down. Rabbi Rami came in with his guitar and started playing a familiar tune. Our Melava Malka was about to begin. We sang Havdalah and Rabbi Kaplan took pictures of us with his camera.

After that, we did a meditation where we planted our goals in a garden. When that was over, we walked into the gym for “Wacky Olympics”. We were split into three groups and participated in a hoola hooping contest, a limbo contest, two screaming contests, a running contest, and a dribbling contest. Then we had a fifth grade versus adult basketball game. Unfortunately, the fifth grade lost 44 to 22, but it was still a very fun game. With only about ten minutes left in our Melava Malka, we had ice cream sundaes. Mine had a mountain of whipped cream on it.

It was truly a fun night!
