Dear Parents,

Parasha – This week’s parasha is called Va’yishlach. Some of the topics we discussed were Esav and Ya’acov meeting after not seeing each other for twenty years, Ya’acov’s dream and his struggle with a man, Ya’acov receiving the name of Yisrael, and Rachel giving birth to Binyamin and dying during childbirth.

With the help of the commentators Rashi and Nachman and Da’at Mikrah, we discussed in depth the reason why Ya’acov received the additional name of Yisrael.

Humash – The main topics discussed were, What was not in the world when G-d created man, and G-d putting the man in Gan Eden.

Tefillot – We discussed the prayer, Mah Tovu  when it is recited, how the prayer came about, and focused on specific words that explained where we are able to pray to be closer to G-d ( in his tent, in his Mishkan). This will be sent home at the end of the week.

Chanukah – There are many activities that are taking place in the classroom, such as listening to Chanukah music, reading Chanukah stories, and writing their own Chanukah stories. These stories will be sent home soon for you and your child to read together.

Shabbat Shalom,

Keren
