A New Era of Excellence Rooted in Tradition

Nesharim Newsletter

January 23, 2015

Dear Nesharim Parents,

This week in Chumash, we graphed the similarities and differences of how G-d created man, woman, and animals.

In Tefillah, we continued to focus on Birchot Ha’shachar, in particular, the bracha of She’asani B’tzalmo (created in G-d’s image). The Nesharim were able to make a connection between this bracha and our Chumash studies.

In this week’s parasha, Parashat Bo, we discussed the last three plagues that G-d brought upon the Mitzrim, the korban Pesach, and Yitziat Mitzrayim.  We discussed what we do today to remind us of what happened a long time ago: we eat matzah, tell the story of Yitziat Mitzrayim to children, and hang a mezuzah on our doorposts.

The question of the week was: Why did Bnai Yisrael put blood on their doorposts?

The Nesharim are learning new vocabulary pertaining to the upcoming holiday of Tu B’shvat. This week’s focus was on the life cycle of a plant and water.

Rabbi Dan Orenstein joined us for Tefillah of Thursday, where he shared a Midrash about Moshe and his mateh (Staff). Please ask your child to share this interesting Midrash.

It is the Nesharim’s turn to present at oneg next week. Please feel free to join us at 1:50 PM.

Shabbat Shalom and thank you,

Morah Keren and Morah Chana
