A New Era of Excellence Rooted in Tradition

Dear Nesharim Families,

The children have been diving into our new Ocean theme! They have been reading and discussing what they have learned. Each child has selected an ocean animal that they are interested in learning more about. This week we have focused our reading lessons on identifying the main idea of a passage and looking for details. We are teaching the class how to use this information to organize and take notes. This unit will require each child to write a report, make a power-point presentation and a project to share. The majority of these assignments will be completed in class. The children are very excited and are eager to learn! You should ask your child what animal they have chosen and try to make a visit to the local library to look for books. We have also been guiding the children when searching for information on our class tablets.

In math we are working on multiplication and beginning 2 digit addition and subtraction. We are asking the children to practice their facts daily for faster recall. The students working with multiplication, will be bringing home a baggie with fact cards (0-5) to study from next week.

In your child’s folder you will find the spelling list for next week. The children should start practicing them over the weekend or on Monday when they are off from school. On Monday, Mrs. River’s and I will be visiting a local school to collaborate and share ideas for our classroom!

Shabbat Shalom,
