  1. Principal’s Report

Discussion: The board agrees that we need to highlight the upstate day schools consortium that supports teachers and staff at HACD. The Board asked for more specifics on recruitment numbers and also how the Board could help and support the Principal’s efforts.


  1. Finance

Discussion: Carolyn Levine will follow-up with Rhonda Rosenheck regarding the progress on the special technology grants.

Concern was raised about the current facility and costs. A motion was proposed as follows:

Motion out of the Finance Committee

The Board authorizes a committee to explore renting space for the school in the near term and the practical, programmatic, and financial feasibility of doing so, and to report on this by its May 2015 HACD Board meeting.


The key issues were cost of the facility, size needed for the school. The question was raised as to timeline and what is the Board’s sense of urgency for this action, what is the timeline what is the deliverable and by when.

  1. Jewish Life Committee Motion

An update from the Jewish Life Committee was sent out a few weeks ago. The committee was charged with describing how HACD is an inclusive school. An update was sent out in the Wednesday updates.

Motion from the Jewish Life Committee with a revised title: “An Inclusive School Community Statement” was adopted by the Board with one abstention


  1. Timeline

The Board did an exercise to look out 5 years and think about where HACD will be in 2020.

Board members were asked to write down ideas of where the school should be in 5 years with regard to:

  • Leadership
  • Academics
  • Inclusive Community School
  • Communication / Retention / Recruitment
  • Building
  • Affordability

Sandy proposed that Gail and he begin work on the committee to explore renting space and the future home of HACD.
